I would highly recommend them to all players who want to improve their control and are looking for more things in their warm up arsenal. My tone used to be absolute garbage, but even after one go at the flow studies, you can feel imporvment. To say that this collection of preexisting etudes was a booklet is giving more credit than it is due for nearly half of the examples are taken from other sources. Personally, I've found that while the flow studies can be time consuming, they do wonders for sound and control. Cichowicz’s booklet Trumpet Flow Studies was published by the School of Music at Northwestern University in Chicago. Once you go through all the starting combinations from 0 to 123, add another note and repeat. When i do flow studies, i try to do them as intended: play slow, start soft get louder as you go up and softer when you down. The chichowitz flow studies can be found with a simple google search.

You are always thinking of the 'goal' which is the beautiful sound. Set 4 The sound should float on the breath.
